Welcome to Barbados
Welcome to Barbados, the easternmost island in the Caribbean, known for its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine. This travel guide will help you plan your next adventure to this beautiful island paradise.
Getting to Barbados Most visitors fly into Grantley Adams International Airport, located on the southeastern coast of the island. Direct flights are available from major cities around the world, including New York, London, Toronto, and Miami. Getting Around Renting a car is the most convenient way to explore the island, but taxis and public buses are also available. Driving is on the left-hand side of the road. VLOGWhere to Stay
We Stayed at Little Arches Boutique Hotel and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Luxury Ocean Suite- our room was wonderful for a long stay, as it had plenty of space, a full kitchen, and our own little pool with an ocean view. What is really unique about this Boutique Hotel is that there are only 10 rooms, so it feels like home and the staff is able to give you their full attention. The entire property was stunning, and gave me Almafi Coast vibes! Café Luna is located just upstairs where we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was sooo good and everyone here was super friendly.
Little Arches provides a shuttle to other South Coast beaches, along with complimentary rentals of paddle boards, snorkel, surf, and kayak from Carlisle Bay. If you stay 10 days or more, the hotel also includes complimentary catamaran sailing, massage, and bottle of champagne for 2! To Book your stay at Little Arches, click here. Beaches
Barbados is best known for its white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. Popular spots include Crane Beach, Bottom Bay, and Mullins Beach. For a more secluded experience, head to Bathsheba Beach on the rugged east coast.
âThe island also boasts a rich culture, with its roots in West Africa and Europe. Visit the historic capital city of Bridgetown to see the Parliament Buildings, the Barbados Museum, and St. Michael's Cathedral. Turtles & Shipwreck Cove
Barbados is known for its turtles and snorkeling adventures. Unfortunately, the day that we decided to do this there was a rare thunderstorm we got caught in the middle of- (see vlog for the shenanigans) but we still had fun. I linked some tours down below for you to check out during your trip!
Restaurants
Barbados has a diverse cuisine influenced by African, Indian, and British traditions. Try a flying fish and cou-cou, a national dish made with cornmeal and okra. Other local favorites include macaroni pie, fish cakes, and rum punch- but watch out for the rum punch, it will get ya.
âRestaurants to Try: Nightlife
Barbados is known for its lively nightlife, with plenty of bars and nightclubs to choose from. St. Lawrence Gap and Holetown are popular spots for nightlife, with live music, dancing, and drinks flowing.
Things to Know
Barbados is a relatively safe island, but it's always best to exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings. The official language is English, and the currency is the Barbadian dollar, although US dollars are widely accepted. Taxis here are pricey, so try to plan ahead or rent a car!
