My cousin Anna recently moved to Belgium, and I planned to visit her while I went to Europe for my 26th birthday trip! I found a flight from Miami to Brussels for just $200 bucks, yep, a $200 ticket to Europe, so I had to take the opportunity! Before this trip, I had visited 20 countries. I wanted to get to the number 26 for my 26th Birthday, so Belgium is stop #21 of 26! How I Booked a $200 Flight to Belgium 

The most common thing I hear when I travel to Europe is, "Must be nice, I wish I had that kind of money!!" And yes, I am VERY very blessed, don't get me wrong... but flying to Europe can be cheaper than flying anywhere in the US. I found a direct flight to Brussels from Miami from TUI Fly. There are lots of international airlines like this that are relatively inexpensive. Always check SkyScanner and click on the calendar for the lowest rates. It helps if you fly out of an airport hub, such as New York, Chicago, Miami, or ATL. Sometimes it is less expensive to fly to a bigger airport (if you are in a smaller city) and book your international flight from there.

Things to Do in Brussels 

Everything you want to see in Brussels is relatively walkable, and there is lots of food to enjoy on the way. While in Belgium, you have to be sure to try none other than an authentic Belgian waffle (you won't be disappointed), Belgian chocolates, and Frites. Brewing and appreciating Beer is also a large part of Belgian culture. Make sure to have some Belgian Beer with your meal. Something to note is that they are very particular about their beer glasses! There is a different glass for each type of beer. A fun fact about Brussels is that not only is it the capital of Belgium, but it is also the capital of the EU.

1. Visit the Grand Place

The Grand Place could be considered the center of the city, where gorgeous buildings dating all the way back to the 17th century frame the square with gold trimmings and intricate architecture. This is a great starting point in Brussels, where you can walk around and enjoy the city, food, and shops! 

2. Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert 

This shopping center is right in the heart of the Grand Place, and is a beautiful shopping center. We stopped to get some Belgian Chocolates here! 

3. See the Palais Royal 

The Royal Palace of Brussels is the official palace of the King and Queen of the Belgians, although they do not reside here. It is close to the city center and beautiful to see! 

4. Parc Du Cinquantenaire

Parc du Cinquantenaire is known for its famous triumphal arch with three arches, and lots of beautiful gardens and museums to walk through. 

5. Jardin du Mont des Arts

Jardin Du Mont des Arts sits on top of the hill in front of the City Hall with the most beautiful garden. It is definitely something to see!

6. Belgian Brewery Tour 

While I did not have the time to do a brewery tour this trip, Belgians take their beer very seriously! Here are some recommended Belgian Beer & Brewery tours on Trip Advisor. 

7. Atomium 

The Atomium is a famous landmark in Brussels that originated at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. The Atomium was constructed for the first post-war universal world exhibition in which the 9 spheres represent an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. They represent the faith one had in the power of science and moreover in nuclear power.
